Men’s Central Jail Bail Bond FAQ

At the Board of Supervisors’ direction, its Jail Closure Implementation Team works to reduce the jail population and expand community-based care. The team’s page sets no closing date; LASD still posts MCJ visiting hours.
It is $500; the surety guarantees $5,000. If he misses court without excuse, the court forfeits the bond but must vacate that forfeiture and exonerate the bond if he appears within 180 days of the mailed notice, plus 5 (Penal Code 1305). Clients who qualify for our filed 8% rate pay $400.
It means a judge set bail at $3,000, for example on a warrant or at arraignment. A bond costs a $300 premium at the standard 10%. That money bail differs from the $0 release many county arrests get under the Pre-Arraignment Release Protocol.
