These cases turn on which county wants the person and which county holds them. LA County’s zero-bail protocol leaves out warrant arrests; the judge who signs a warrant sets its bail.
Penal Code 821 lets a person held on another county’s felony warrant post its endorsed bail or see a local magistrate, who must allow it. Otherwise the requesting agency collects them within five days (five court days past 400 miles).
If Pomona police hold someone on another county’s misdemeanor warrant, Penal Code 822 gives the officer in charge of the jail, Pomona City Jail included, authority to accept the endorsed bail. A local magistrate may set bail when the warrant names none.
An arrest in Orange or Riverside County on a new charge uses that county’s bail schedule, since Penal Code 1269b ties bail to the county where the person must appear. We coordinate with a licensed agent who posts there.

Out-of-County Transfer Bond FAQ

An agent posts it at the jail holding the person, on another county’s warrant. Penal Code 1269b lets that jail accept the warrant’s bail, and the bond then goes to the issuing court. California rules allow the posting agent a reasonable fee (10 CCR 2081).
It depends on the county, any warrant and the charge. LA County’s zero-bail protocol covers only warrantless LA County arrests, and some charges there still carry money bail. A warrant carries its judge’s endorsed bail (Penal Code 815a); another county follows its own schedule (Penal Code 1269b).
The standard 10% premium on a $25,000 bond is $2,500, which you pay the bail agency. If a distant county’s agent posts the bond, that agent may charge a reasonable posting fee, so ask us about it before signing. Our bail bond cost guide shows more math.
The unpaid balance is a contract debt, and the state Constitution bars jail for civil debt. Surrendering someone before a court date obliges the agent to refund the premium, less limited costs on proof of substantial added risk (10 CCR 2090). Penal Code 1300(b) allows court-ordered refunds absent good cause.
