Felony Charges We Post Bonds For
The 2026 LA County felony schedule treats these six charges in different ways. Some carry money bail, with a 10% premium; others take a $0 track under the Pre-Arraignment Release Protocol.
Prosecutors can charge assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm as a felony or a misdemeanor. The felony version counts as a serious felony, and the 2026 schedule gives it no $0 track: bail is $30,000.
Robbery means taking property from a person, or from their immediate presence, by force or fear. It counts as both serious and violent, which bars zero-dollar bail. The 2026 schedule lists $100,000 for first degree and $50,000 for second.
Entering an inhabited home to steal or commit a felony is first-degree burglary. The 2026 schedule sets $50,000 if anyone besides an accomplice was inside. An empty home gets Magistrate Review: a magistrate may release, set conditions or hold the arrestee.
Grand theft over $950 is Book and Release on the 2026 schedule: $0 on a promise to appear, unless an exception such as felony probation or parole applies. Theft from the person gets Magistrate Review, and theft of a firearm carries $50,000.
Possessing certain controlled substances for sale falls under Health and Safety Code 11378, and sale or transport for sale under 11379. Both are Book and Release on the 2026 schedule unless an exception applies; felony probation or parole, for example, brings Magistrate Review.
A person with a prior felony conviction who owns, buys, receives or possesses a firearm commits a felony under Penal Code 29800(a)(1). On the schedule it is Magistrate Review: a magistrate may set release conditions or keep them in custody.

At the standard 10% premium, a $75,000 bond costs $7,500. If you are a veteran, on active duty, a union member or a private-attorney client, you may qualify for a filed 8% rate, or $6,000. After a low down payment, we put the balance on a written plan.
At 10%, a $1,000 bond costs $100, which you do not get back in most cases, including when prosecutors drop charges. Cash bail differs under Penal Code 1297. A relative’s cash deposit returns in full after judgment; a defendant’s own deposit can first pay restitution, fines and costs.
