Simple assault under Penal Code 240 and battery under 242 carry $0 scheduled bail in Los Angeles County. Prosecutors can file battery with serious injury, 243(d), as a misdemeanor or a felony, and a felony charge can carry money bail.
Proposition 47 made petty theft and shoplifting of $950 or less misdemeanors, and the county lists both at $0. Most people booked for grand theft over $950, Penal Code 487(a), leave at $0: the county felony schedule designates it Book and Release.
A plain traffic ticket needs no bond. Skipping its court date on purpose is a misdemeanor under Vehicle Code 40508, and a judge can issue a bench warrant with bail attached. We post a bond for that amount to clear the hold.

The premium is non-refundable once we post the bond, because it bought your relative’s release. State rules return most or all of it if we surrender your relative before a court date. To pay less, check for $0 bail before signing. Penal Code 1276.1 bars renewal premiums.
