A Pomona inmate search can end with a phone call, because Pomona City Jail posts no online roster. The county’s inmate finder also leaves out bookings from the last two hours.

You can check on your own with the steps below, or send us the details and let an agent do it.

Quick answer: Pomona City Jail has no online inmate roster, so call the jail line at (909) 620-2131. For Los Angeles County custody, use the LASD Inmate Finder with a full name and date of birth, or call (213) 473-6100. Bookings under two hours old will not show yet. Send the form below and we start the search for you.

We start with the agency that made the arrest. Pomona officers bring most of their arrestees to Pomona City Jail at 490 W. Mission Blvd., where jailers finish the booking, according to the City. The City’s police pages list no online inmate roster, so a Pomona City Jail inmate lookup happens by phone.

The City says people who are not released stay at the jail for arraignment. While Pomona holds your relative, a call to the jail line at (909) 620-2131 is how to check. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) runs a separate Inmate Finder for people in its jails. We make those calls for you and call you back once we know where your relative is.

What should you have ready before you search?

The form needs the person’s name, date of birth and city of arrest, plus your own contact details. Anything else you know helps us confirm the right record.

  • Full legal name, plus any other spelling or last name they use
  • Date of birth, which the LASD Inmate Finder also asks for
  • City of arrest, plus the date if you know it
  • Booking number, if you have one (the number a jail assigns to each booking)
  • Your phone and email, so an agent can reach you

If your relative is already in an LASD jail and you lack a booking number, LASD’s inmate line at (213) 473-6100 can give you one with the full name plus a date of birth or arrest date. You must be 18 or older to send the form.

Which jails and counties do we cover?

We work in Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, so we can post bail on both sides of the county line. Each place below has its own way to check.

If they are held at Where to check Phone
Pomona City Jail, 490 W. Mission Blvd. No online roster; call the jail (909) 620-2131
An LASD jail, such as the Inmate Reception Center LASD Inmate Finder (name and date of birth) (213) 473-6100
West Valley Detention Center, 9500 Etiwanda Ave, Rancho Cucamonga San Bernardino County Sheriff inmate locator (909) 708-8371
A California state prison CDCR’s CIRIS search (916) 445-6713

West Valley takes arrestees from many San Bernardino County agencies, and most people held there are awaiting trial. The county’s locator page lets you book a visit once you find your relative. A warrant from another county can also keep someone in Pomona custody, and our page on out-of-county transfer bonds covers that case.

CIRIS sits in the table only as a place to check for someone already serving a state prison sentence. It does not cover Pomona City Jail or the county jails.

What happens after we find them?

Once we know where your relative is, we check whether they need a bond at all. For a warrantless arrest, Los Angeles County’s pre-arraignment rules can mean release with $0 bail, a Magistrate Review, or a money bail amount from the county bail schedule, depending on the charge.

At Magistrate Review, a magistrate looks at the case first. Your relative may go home, go home under non-financial conditions or stay in custody until arraignment. Bail agents cannot post a bond while that review is pending.

If money bail applies, our agent posts the bond at that jail. Release then takes two to six hours in our experience.

According to the City’s jail page, people who stay in custody remain at Pomona City Jail for arraignment at the Pomona courts. Under Penal Code 825, that first court date comes within 48 hours of arrest, excluding Sundays and holidays. Our page on Pomona Courthouse South at 400 Civic Center Plaza covers that step, and what happens after posting bail covers the rest.

What does a bail bond cost?

Our standard premium runs 10% of the bail. Bail of $20,000 carries a $2,000 premium, and we post the full $20,000. If your relative is a veteran or service member, belongs to a union or has a private attorney, a filed 8% rate may apply.

A low down payment can start the bond. The premium is generally non-refundable, including when charges get dropped. California has banned renewal premiums since January 1, 2022 (Penal Code 1276.1).

Paying the full bail in cash is the other route, and bail vs. bond compares the two. Before anyone signs, read what cosigners and collateral involve.

How do you reach a bondsman right now?

Call (888) 998-9511 at any hour, or send the form above. A licensed agent answers day or night, in English or Spanish.

Tell us the person’s name and where the arrest happened. If your relative calls you from jail, ask for the booking number. It also helps to ask for the arraignment date and which court will hear the case. We call you back with the jail’s name and the next step. If bail is new to you, how bail works in Pomona explains the basics in plain terms.

Common Questions About a Pomona Inmate Search

How do I check if someone is in jail in LA County?

Use the LASD Inmate Finder on lasd.org with the person’s full name and date of birth, or call LASD inmate information at (213) 473-6100. Bookings from the last two hours will not appear yet. If Pomona police made the arrest, call Pomona City Jail first at (909) 620-2131, since your relative may still be there.

Can I check online if someone is in the Pomona jail?

For Pomona City Jail, no. The City’s police pages offer no online roster, and a search of pomonaca.gov for “inmate” returned documents and one news item, with no roster among them. Call the jail at (909) 620-2131. LASD and San Bernardino County run online tools, and CIRIS covers state prison, as the table above shows.

Is my loved one still at Pomona City Jail or transferred?

Call and ask. The City says people who stay in custody remain at Pomona City Jail for arraignment at the Pomona courts, and its jailers also move prisoners to and from other L.A.-area jails. LASD does not tell families when it moves an inmate between facilities, so check its line at (213) 473-6100.

How can I find an incarcerated person in California?

For someone serving a state prison term, use CDCR’s CIRIS search, or call CDCR’s Identification Unit at (916) 445-6713, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except holidays. CDCR warns that CIRIS may leave some people out. For a recent Pomona arrest, start with the city and county options in the table above.

Can you see California mugshots?

Not on police social media for most nonviolent arrests. Penal Code 13665 bars California police departments and sheriff’s offices from posting those booking photos unless the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat, a judge orders it, or an urgent law enforcement need exists. Nonviolent here means any crime not listed in Penal Code 667.5(c).
