Traffic Charges and Warrants We Post Bonds For
For arrests without a warrant, the county’s 2026 bail schedule sets $0 bail for all six charges below. Cite and Release means police hand the driver a citation to sign, with no booking.
Choosing to skip the court date promised on a ticket is a misdemeanor under Vehicle Code 40508, whatever becomes of the ticket. The 2026 schedule lists Cite and Release, but the court may also issue a bench warrant with bail a judge sets.
Vehicle Code 14601 bars driving when you know your license is under suspension or revocation for reckless, negligent or incompetent driving or a condition that makes driving unsafe. Section 14601.1 covers other grounds, unrelated to driving ability. Both are Cite and Release.
Driving without a valid license violates Vehicle Code 12500, a Cite and Release offense that Penal Code 19.8 lets proceed as an infraction. Without a license or other ID, officers must take the driver before a magistrate under Vehicle Code 40302.
Under Vehicle Code 20002, a driver whose crash damages only property must stop and identify themselves to the owner, or leave a note and notify police. Driving off instead is a misdemeanor, and a Cite and Release one on the 2026 schedule.
Leaving a crash that hurt or killed someone else violates Vehicle Code 20001, which can bring state prison. Pomona police motor officers investigate serious-injury crashes and work with prosecutors. A felony arrest under VC 20001 is Book and Release in 2026.
Reckless driving, under Vehicle Code 23103, means driving with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of people or property on a highway or in a parking facility. It is Cite and Release in 2026; the injury version, VC 23104, is Book and Release.

Traffic Bail Bond FAQ

Seldom, without a warrant. Under the Pre-Arraignment Release Protocol, a warrantless arrest on VC 12500, 14601, 20002 or 23103 carries $0 bail as Cite and Release. A traffic warrant lists the bail the judge set, which a bond can cover. Drivers on felony probation, parole or PRCS go to a magistrate.
A $1,000 bond costs $100, the standard 10% premium. Judges setting warrant bail on a Cite and Release offense may use the 2026 schedule’s $1,000 to $5,000 guideline; 10% of that range is $100 to $500. Eligible clients may pay 8%; our cost guide lists who qualifies.
The unpaid premium alone cannot jail you: article I, section 10 of California’s Constitution bars jail over civil debt. An agent can still surrender a client to custody before a court date, and 10 CCR 2090 then makes it refund the premium, minus limited costs if it shows a much greater risk.

For a small warrant, cash can cost less, because the agency keeps the premium in most cases. The clerk can apply a driver’s own deposit to restitution, fines and costs under Penal Code 1297. Anyone else claims the full deposit after judgment with the receipt and gets it within 10 days.
